Hello Rhodes lovers/first-timers,
Just a fellow warning about a shady bar in Rhodes Old town we had a misfortune to deal with.
The bar is called Maria’s Meze but it seems they also use Cesar Mese name (not to be mistaken by the great and excellent restaurant in Lindos) and is located right across the public toilets, near Grand Master’s Palace.
The first clue was they were aggressive to get us in saying it’s full AC bar and bla bla. We agreed as it was very hot outside.
We were given menus, but there were no prices for most of the things. My girlfriend wanted a Coke and I wanted a beer, but those weren’t even listed on the menu.
Therefore, we asked them if they have those and they said they do.
She asked for a small Coke and I asked multiple times for a menu with beers listed, but they were hesitant to provide it saying it’s the usual.
I then specifically asked to get a local beer in the smallest glass and they brought both the Coke and beer in 1-liter glasses.
The total bill was 22 euros (12euros beer and 10euros Coke) but when I got a receipt after paying with the card the discrepancy between two bills showed up. (Refer to the pictures attached).
This is a total rip off and I strongly advise to stay away from this place. They will be reported to the tourist police and I strongly advise reporting scammers like these.

Edit: Edited to give more context and make sure people do not mix this bar with a great place called Cesar meze in Lindos. This one is in Rhodes Old town.
